There was not anyone reported on Sick Call.

Bob Griglione reported bingo was doing well in spite of the economy and attendance being down. We did pay out $300 for Blackout last week. Bingo Report attached.

Bob reported that Rinaldo Geldhof has moved to Lenexa and is living with his daughter and son-in-law. Bob joined the VFW there to be with his son-in-law and he is renewing his American Legion membership at Post 43. He expressed his thanks to everyone who “walked through” for Tony Russell tonight and he said it meant a lot to him because it shows to the families that Post 43 cares. Bob told Drew Polen he was sending him a man, Rudy Belew who is currently in the USAF and going to attend PSU for a year and be in the Guard Unit here.

Bob Griglione reported that he had submitted 2 turn-ins totaling 55 renewals and he had 11 more to be turn in.

Buzz asked Drew Polen to introduce 2 new members who came in late: Sgt. Chris Dougherty and Cadet Adam Neely. Sgt. Dougherty was in Iraq with Lee Taffinelli and is full-time NG. Cadet Neely deployed to Iraq with Drew and is currently serving as his XO. Buzz said it is really great to see the young people joining our Post, because they are the future.

The Post is invited to the 135th Annual Reunion of The Old Soldiers and Sailors Post in Erie on July 18th and 19th. There is a Veterans Memorial dedication at 5:00 p.m. with the State Commander on Friday, the bean feed begins at 6:00 p.m. Friday and the parade is at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. This is a great event where they cook 1400 pounds of beans in cast iron kettles over an open fire, it is a really big deal for the city and American Legion.

John Moriconi’s family sent a thank you for the touching service honoring John. Roger Chance sent a thank you to all Post 43 members for the fruit basket we sent him. The Ladies Auxiliary asked Ron about where the Post donation is for the Children’s Miracle Network. The Post has in the past matched the Ladies donation. However, it is a matching donation and not a straight automatic donation, it is approved every year. He pointed out that this matter had been picked up by at least 27 other news agencies throughout the US. Without their efforts, these programs would not be a success. They identify the needy, accompany them on the shopping trip at Walmart, and follow up after the fact. He recommended that the Commander forward a letter expressing our gratitude to these ladies for their efforts.

In addition several new items have been added to the “Patriotic” section that are really worth your time to check out.

The Commander’s “Brother-in-Law, Gerald Green was a guest. He has assisted the Post on Memorial Day with the “Avenue of Flags”. The Post has had difficulty every year with the Avenue’s holes to insert the flag poles into the ground. The Post has tried many alternatives to correct the problem. Gerald Green, our guest, developed a possible solution and for that, we are grateful. He is taking it upon himself to provide us with approximately 150 devices which will assists in eliminating the problem. We have the utmost of confidence that these will work and want to express our sincere appreciation in his offer to provide them to us. Thank you Gerald.

Before Closing, it was emphasized that the Post will NOT have a meeting in December, that the next meeting will be January 16th, same time, same place.
