Unit 43 American Legion Auxiliary!

Due to the ice storm in December, the Auxiliary Christmas and Recognition Dinner was cancelled.

At the January 14 meeting, we honored our 50+ year members. Attending were Rosemary Bosetti, 53 years, and her daughter Jan Heardt; Ann Grilz, 51 years, and her daughter Linda; and Wilma Lavery, 58 years, and her daughter Janice Sighel.

They were presented a beautiful red and blue rhinestone pin for their years of service. Their daughters did the honor of pinning their mothers. Not able to attend were Carlotta Geisler, 54 years; Betty Giacometti, 52 years; Julia Marlier, 51 years; Eleanor Richardson, 69 years; Eloise Susnik, 51 years; and Alice Verga, 56 years.

Instead of the dinner ending a great year, it was the beginning to the start of another great year!

In 2007, we happily added new members Jan Becker, Thelma Geldhof, Jeanette Morey, and Judy Strahan.

Sadly we mourned the deaths of Josephine Caput, Ena Getto, and Christine Spigarelli.

We are looking forward to another busy year gearing up for the selection of Girls State Representatives from Frontenac High School, poppy sales, Memorial Day activities, and just enjoying life. It is an election year, too. Let's hope we will see our service men and women returning home from war very soon!

May you have a happy and peaceful 2008.
